Horology Deck

Unique playing cards inspired by the world of watches

The Horology Deck is a premium playing card deck, made as a homage to the world of watches and clocks.

BRANDING

Create a high end card deck with a horology theme, and top it off with interesting horology facts on every other numeral cards. 

DESIGN

For the tuck box we designed a unique and intricate design including both the only “lumed hands” in the world, embossed guilloche patterns and different foils, for a high end finish. 

PRODUCTION

The tuck box is made with dyed paper for a premium finish and the cards are made from crushed black core French poker paper. 

MARKETING

Tuckbox

The tuckboxes are set with art deco style borders in gold foil, and have the worlds only "lume" hands on a tuckbox (that we know of). The front and back have a guilloche pattern decorating them, and the inside is laid with a "brushed steel" pattern. The boxes also uses dyed paper, for a more premium feel (without any white paper sticking out along the edges and inside).

Features

Colors available in black, forest green & red. All unique cards (54) designed from ground up together with a team of Norwegian illustrators. The cards are made of soft crushed "black core" poker paper, set with a air-cushion linen finish. This makes them really great for both card games and for the experienced cardists.

Fact cards

Every other numerals card in the deck are decorated with interesting facts from the world of watches and clocks. We dug really deep looking for things that can entertain both the novice and the aficionado.

Court cards

Keeping in line with paying homage to the classic design court cards, we created our own modern takes, with: The Jack as the avid watch collector, The Queen as the watch manufacturer, The King as the watchmaker. Within the design you'll find smaller details to discover like mustache shaped like watch hands.

Tuckbox

Special printing techniques on the tuckbox: golden metallic ink, luminescent print, hot foil, debossing and multiple print layers. The box itself is made of European cardboard, and dyed (colors all the way through) for a more premium feel to the tuckbox.

The Horology Deck came about as an idea during poker game evenings, where the topic of watches often came up and our lead creator Torgeir Sanders saw the tight connection these two worlds often have. Inspired by this he wanted to see if we could fuse design, aesthetics and details of the watch world into a classic poker card deck. And with that (and a few hundred hours later) the Horology Deck was born.
