Fjord Whiskey Glass

Marrying design, science and pleasure to form a unique whiskey glass inspired by the Fjords of Norway

Being the first and only hand pressed whisky glass to have been designed and developed in Norway, we are proud to offer you a unique twist to the whiskey journey.

BRANDING

Create a unique whisky tumbler with a proper Norwegian heritage. 

DESIGN

We wanted to create a tumbler that was both unique and that had actual design roots from the Norwegian landscape. With the Fjord whisky glass we did just that. A heavy crystal tumbler than forms two steep lass mountain sides and it’s own little Fjord at the bottom in a uniquely shaped glass. 

PRODUCTION

Made with lead free crystal, the glasses are hand pressed into it’s final shape. Each glass weigh a solid 500 grams, and comes presented in an exclusive 2-pack box. Earlier there was also a limited edition solid oak 6-pack box available.

Designed and developed in Norway, the Fjord whisky glass with its massive inner mountain sides sets out to create your very own little whisky fjord at the bottom. Reflecting some of the really beautiful nature we're blessed with here in Norway.

The Journey

After the initial idea of the glass sprung to life two years ago, we spent a few months looking into basic shapes and sizes - talking to various glass makers to get their input in terms of actual production. Having found some parameters to work with, we started shaping the glass in a 3D software and 3D printing the various versions. A few more months, some 50+ 3D printed glasses and a final thumbs up from the factory, we were ready for real prototyping. A quick leap forward, more packaging designing and prototyping finally brings us to where we´re able to present the final product to you.

Solid oak case + gift box

The Oak case is our finest limited 6 glass tier. Designed in-house as always and made from solid oak, the case is a massive 5 kilogram heavy. Inside, 3 + 3 glasses are separated by an oak wall and carefully secured in laser cut black foam. The 2 glass gift box is also a good step up from the usual cardboard box new glasses come in, as they´re safely stored in foam compartments, tucked inside in a drawer style box design. Giving it just little more refinement.

Enhanced aroma delivery

Even though it´s outer shape is that of a regular tumbler, the inside is another story - The two mountain sides act almost like small wave breakers causing the whisky to mix with air when you stir the glass, giving off more rich aromas. And as you let the whisky settle, it will concentrate towards the middle narrowing the surface off the whisky, giving you both a stronger center scent and a softer scent towards the edges.

By focusing on top shelf materials like lead-free crystal for the glasses and solid oak for the six glass case, and marrying this with the unique design and drinking experience, we feel our glass really brings something new to the table.
